Massage is one of the oldest and most basic forms of treatment known to man. Our trained Massage Therapists can provide you with the type of massage you request, or they can assess your condition and provide you with advice as to which type of massage would suit your needs. Their aim is to help relax and ease your emotional and physical stress.
Massage Therapy Choices
At Action Physiotherapy and Sports Injury Centre our Massage Therapists are qualified in providing:
Benefits of Massage:
- Relax the whole body, reduce stress and tension
- Loosen tight muscles
- Relieve tired and aching muscles
- Increase flexibility and range of motion, improving the efficiency and strength of the Musculoskeletal System
- Improve the healing process, helping the recovery from injuries and illness
- A regular sports massage between sporting activities will enhance your body’s healing processes and speed recovery.
- Help with chronic pain
- Improve skin tone and blood circulation
Regular massage improves the body’s natural healing process and is known to relieve congestion in the soft tissues of the body by improving circulation, production of red blood cells and promoting lymph flow which enhances the elimination of cellular wastes. Massage is there to help reduce acid levels in the muscles that were formed during exercise, and aid in relaxing the muscles from tension and hypertonicity. Deep massage can separate fascia fibres and prevent the formation of adhesions. Massage can also reduce the inflammation in joints and soft tissues and alleviate or reduce pain, stiffness or soreness.
Sports Massage is defined as the management, manipulation and rehabilitation of soft tissues of the body including muscles, ligaments and tendons.
A regular sports massage can help prevent sporting injury by improving the condition of the muscles. Sports Massage is used by athletes at all levels to help prevent breakdown and injury. It is also used to help prevent an excessive build up of scar tissue following an injury and can stretch specific localised areas of soft tissue in a way that may not be possible with exercise.
Q. Is massage covered under my Private Health insurance cover?
In many instances, (provided you have ‘Extras cover’), you may be covered for remedial massage. If you have private health insurance and wish to claim, you should check with your fund before attending. Please also check with reception staff which therapist services you may require to claim the best benefit from your Health Insurance.
